One of the most common questions I receive from my seller clients revolves around the commission that I charge. This is a very fair question, especially since you want to walk away with as much money as possible to attain your next goal in life. Commissions in California are negotiable, and as such, I don’t have a set commission. I do have an average commission that ranges between 5-6% commission charged to my clients however. Where you’ll fall in that range depends on numerous factors surrounding the value and marketing necessities your home demands.
Just Hire A Discount Broker
Just… don’t! A discount broker has a business plan set up to work solely on volume. Have you ever paid less for something, and it ended up costing you more? This happens all the time to homeowners that employ the services of discount brokers. The discount broker will not fight for your equity like I will. A discount broker is simply there to earn a small fee, by providing the least amount of services to you possible, so as to provide more services to a larger group of seller clients that have also tried to save money on commissions. Essentially, you’re just a number. You need to ask yourself… when you’re selling the largest asset of your life, do you want to be just another client to the person you hire for the job of selling your home?
