Santa Clarita Home Buyers With Champagne Taste Can Become Permanent Renters

Santa Clarita Home Buyer Budget and Options
Santa Clarita Home Buyers: Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget. What Kind Of Home Will You End Up With?

They say champagne taste with a beer budget. When I think of this, I think of some home buyers out there in the Santa Clarita real estate market. Home buyers who are just barely qualified for a home loan, but they want it all. And they won’t buy a Santa Clarita home, until they get it all.

I’m a proponent of my clients in particular, getting what they want. I want them happy. The problem with the aforementioned strategy of holding the purchase until the unicorn of homes reveals itself, is that it’s not a buyers market. It’s a seller’s market. Home values are appreciating presently.

Wait Too Long Get Priced Out

The Santa Clarita real estate market is full of home buyers getting priced out of their preferred price range. As home values go up, the purchasing power of home buyers goes down. Wait for that unicorn of homes to reveal itself, and you may just be waiting a long, long, long…time.

Permanent Renter

Most home buyers have very good intentions. I wouldn’t say they’re overly optimistic since they tend to be riddled with nervousness and fear, but they are well intentioned. They truly believe they should get the home they want. This dream of a home. What they can’t get out of the way of though, is themselves. Many are on their way to becoming permanent renters. And hey, I’ll be the first to admit that many would-be home buyers should in fact be renters – for a long time. Permanent though? I wouldn’t wish that on most people. But some home buyers in the Santa Clarita real estate truly want it all. Beer budget. I’m talking Natural Ice.  And complete champagne taste. These are the folks who are out there, spending their weekends looking for homes right now… but… they will probably end up renting for years to come. They will lose the opportunity to buy now, due to getting priced out. If not by rising home values in the Santa Clarita real estate market, then by rise in home loan interest rates.

All of my clients end up giving in on some aspect of their criteria. If a client has 5 must-haves, they typically are able to find a home that accommodates 3-4 of their must-have needs. They compromise with their criteria in order to fulfill their dream of buying a Santa Clarita home. They don’t end up buying the unicorn of homes…even if they set-out to do so. But they do become home owners. And that’s pretty cool.
