Tips For Buying A Home In The Fall

Believe it or not, fall is the perfect season to buy a home. People have spent all summer making improvements to their homes before putting them on the market, and after applying some finishing touches in August and September, homes are ready to go for October. While the excitement of possibly hosting the holidays as a homeowner can be incredibly appealing, there are a few tips to keep in mind when buying in the fall:

  1. Know Your Market– Although the market tends to slow during the holiday season, Santa Clarita is still experiencing low housing inventory. So, while there may be less buyers to compete with, you may still have to search a little harder.
  2. Room For Negotiations– If the home you loved in the summer is still available, this could be a great bargaining chip. Sellers are eager to sell after being on market since summer. This can be a mutually beneficial situation for buyer and seller.
  3. Take Advantage of Incentives– As we reach the end of the year, many builders offer great deals to close as many sales as they can. This could potentially mean great savings for you, on top of a new home!
  4. Ā Check Maintenance– In California it almost feels like perpetual summer. But, every once and awhile we get some rain, and this provides the perfect opportunity to check out the condition of a property more thoroughly. Maybe you bought a home in the summer, and didn’t realize that the rain gutters had disconnected till after it rains. Taking advantage of the season can help in your inspection period.
