The landscape of the Santa Clarita Valley is changing. We now have a larger inventory of 55+ housing communities to consider finding the best home for you in.
The Friendly Valley community, established in the early 1960’s, had been the only option to buy in for decades. Then came along Belcaro in the north Valencia area in the early 2000’s.
Fast forward to 2018 and going forward, now there are some newer options with modern amenities.
New 55+ Options in Santa Clarita
For example, consider Verano at the beautiful and gated Aliento community in Canyon Country.
Verano is a gated active 55+ community situated just south of Highway 14 in Canyon Country. As the only 55+ community at Aliento, Verano is a popular options when searching for a home. Its proximity to highway access and shopping, plus easy access to Santa Clarita’s Cross Valley Connector make this an ideal location.
With modern floor plans that range from approx 1600 sq ft to 2,200 sq ft, you have some wonderful options. There are one story floor plans and two story floor plans with a main suite located downstairs.
Another 55+ community you might want to consider is Galloway. Located near Golden Valley and Newhall Ranch Rd, Galloway is a gated community in the Saugus area. The location of this community couldn’t be any more central to everything in Santa Clarita, including Highway 14 or I-5 access. Best yet, it’s next door to the Santa Clarita senior center which hosts a ton of activities and special events.
With homes built from 2018 through 2021, you’ll find floor plan options ranging from approx 1900 sq ft up to 2,450 sq ft.
Lastly, a brand new home community at the Skyline development, is called Altis. Built by Tri Pointe homes, this 55+ community is situated high in the hills of Saugus, but also close to Canyon Country.

Altis offers 6 single story floor plans in this masterplanned community. The gated community will also feature a recreation center called The VuePoint where you can find a pool, spa, lounge, movement studio, garden art studio and a gathering room with kitchen.
Home designs will range in size from 1,511 sq ft up to 2,621 sq ft approx. These are 2-3 bedroom floor plans, each with a 2 car garage.
