Will Moving to Santa Clarita Make You Happier?

The state of being happy is important to most people. Where you live has the ability to impact how you feel about your happiness. Will moving to Santa Clarita make you happier?

Sunny weather and nearby amenities are just a few metrics people look for in a place to call home. Santa Clarita, which is LA County’s 3rd largest city, has amenities and warm weather, in spades!

The good people at WalletHub published their findings on Feb 28, 2023 “2023’s Happiest Cities in America“.

They researched 182 of the largest cities in the U.S. and examined 30 key indicators of happiness. These factors include the depression rate of a city like Santa Clarita to the leisure time spent per day.

As a resident myself for over 40 years, I like to think it’s a happy place to live. There’s a lot to love about the SCV. I help people relocate to Santa Clarita all the time as a local real estate agent. In general, people move to the SCV for reasons like great schools, lower crime, and overall quality of life.

What are the findings?

Santa Clarita ranked 31st happiest city to live in among the 182 cities researched.

Breaking Down The Happiest City Ranking

How was Santa Clarita ranked as the 31st happiest city in America? This is a graph that shows the ranking categories.

Santa Clarita’s total score for being ranked 31 of the Happiest Cities in the U.S., was a 60.51.

Moreover, Fremont, CA ranked number one as the overall happiest city with an impressive score of 76.10.

The other three scores shown in this report were for:

Emotional & Physical Well-Being (SCV ranked 36/182)

Income & Employment (SCV ranked 121/182)

Community & Environment (SCV ranked 37/182)

With a great score for emotional, physical well-being, community and environment, it’s no surprise the SCV ranks well for these.

Our great city offers 35 parks, 20 miles of paseos and 80 miles or trails. And have you seen how many gyms and yoga studios there are too? It truly feels like a city where we take good care of ourselves, or at least, we have the opportunity to.

In a June 8, 2022 Community Opinion Survey, citizens of the SCV rated the overall quality of life here. The survey showed that 84.7% of respondents believed that the quality of life was either Good or Excellent in the SCV. I’d say that’s pretty good agreement on the subject matter, at least in this day and age.

In Conclusion

If you’re considering a move to the Santa Clarita Valley and wondering if this city would be a worthy option, I think the answer is yes.

While our ranking for income and employment is lower than I would expect, I help a lot of people move to Santa Clarita that have high income jobs. Although Santa Clarita has more affordable housing than many areas of LA, local home values have increased and affordability has decreased.
